A parent or legal guardian must provide the appropriate financial information required during the scholarship application process.

3.  I do not wish to provide any financial information.  What should I do?

No.  You will be able to save your work as you proceed, and come back later.

5.  I tried to create an account, but the system won't let me create one.  Why?

In order for a parent or legal guardian to receive an account, you must first receive an email request from a student who is already registered in the system.  Please talk with your student to see if they have created an account for themselves.

6.  I have started an account but can't remember which e-mail address I used?

Please do not start another account!  Contact us at avon@dollarsforcholars.org and we will send you your e-mail information.  Please note that this is not an automated reply and may take up to 72 hours to receive a response.

7.  I am having technical difficulties with the website.  What should I do?

There is a "help" link on the bottom of the left hand column of the Scholarship America application website.  If you cannot find the answers to your problem there, please contact us at avon@dollarsforscholars.org

8.  How many scholarships are available?

The number of scholarships available each year varies, depending on a variety of factors including the success of our fundraising, the generosity of our donors, and the amount of funds available for scholarships.

9.  How many scholarships can my student qualify for?

There is no limit to the amount of scholarships that you can qualify for.   Each student will be matched to the scholarships whose criteria their application fulfills.  A student may only receive one scholarship.

Any Avon resident who is graduating from high school and enrolling in a two year, four year, vocational or technical college.  Students graduating from Avon High School are eligible regardless of their legal residence.

11.  Are the scholarships based on financial need or are they merit based?

While financial need is the basis for awarding many of our scholarships, there are scholarships available to recognize exceptional community service, citizenship, merit, or a combination of  these outstanding qualities.

12.  Who decides who receives the scholarships?

All scholarship applications are reviewed by an anonymous and highly confidential scholarship committee.  This guarantees that the scholarship process is objective and nondiscriminatory and ensures that scholarships are available to a wide range of deserving students.

13.  I might miss the deadline.  What should I do?

In order to maintain a fair and equitable process to all applicants, the deadline is firm and applications must be completed by the deadline.  Late applications will not be accepted.

14.  How will my student be notified whether or not s/he received a scholarship?

The student will receive an e-mail notification that s/he has been awarded a scholarship and be invited to the Awards Ceremony.

Scholarship applications must be 100% completed.  Incomplete applications will not be accepted!

Submission of an application does not guarantee the award of a scholarship.  Awarding of scholarships is based on meeting all application requirements, the amount of money available, and the number of qualified student applicants.  Final selection of recipients will be made by a review committee of Avon Dollars for Scholars.
